Sarad Davenport is a Charlottesville native and Executive Director of City of Promise, a local initiative that provides support to youth through a cradle-to-college-and career pathway. Founded in 2012, City of Promise connects families, teens and children in the 10th and Page, Westhaven and Starr Hill neighborhoods with mentors, tutors, afterschool programs and service providers along this pathway. Over the past year, City of Promise has installed a vegetable garden at their community center. The students engaged with the Youth Leadership Council are exploring Food Justice issues and designing plans for implementing community strategies to build community food justice in their neighborhood.
Sarad is also is pastor of the New Green Mountain Baptist Church in Esmont and a the co-chair of the Alliance for Black Male and Achievement and was recently honored as a Charlottesville 2015 Distinguished Dozen.
