Creative Collisions

Multidisciplinary and collaborative performance

Presented by The University of Virginia College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and Cypher.

What emerges when scientists, artists, and entrepreneurs collide?

This week-long challenge project culminates on Saturday of the festival week, with performances showing us glimpses of C’ville 2025, delivered by “collider teams.” Each team will have 5-6 people from across the fine and performing arts, design, the sciences/engineering, and entrepreneurship/innovation who will collaborate during the week of Tom Tom to produce a creative piece showing us about “the new currency” of a future Charlottesville. Resident Artist, Peter Bussigel’s Mobile Interactive Computer Ensemble (MICE) will open the show with a performance transported from the future. The event will close with a “talk-back” session with all of creative colliders, giving audience members a chance to ask questions or offer thoughts in response to the pieces created.

MICE (Mobile Interactive Computer Ensemble) performs live improvised music using handmade instruments, digital controllers, and software.
