Emma Terry

Assistant to U.Va.’s Vice Provost for the Arts

Emma Terry

The Beginning
Born in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, Emma grew up around the corner in Richmond.

Why Charlottesville
Tired of working in finance, she moved “up” in 2010 and took a position at UVa as the Staff Assistant to the Vice Provost for the Arts.

What is Charlottesville’s greatest untapped potential?
“Our Artists! They have the power to better Charlottesville with creative thinking and problem solving skills. They see the world in such unique ways! We need to create a supportive and affordable place from them in Charlottesville, so we can continue to benefit from their service and outlook”.

Connection to Tom Tom
She first heard about Tom Tom in the Arts Department and started attending the community arts meetings. In 2014, she joined the board.

Favorite thing about Tom Tom
Connecting people and resources. We all have so much to learn from one another and Tom Tom has the ability and objective to convene artists, entrepreneurs, inventors, students, the community, & the University in incredible and sometimes unexpected ways!

Interests and Involvement
Besides the Arts, which I both voraciously create and consume – I love this city! I enjoy exploring Charlottesville and the surrounding counties, as well as longer road trips whenever possible. If that road trip leads me to water, even better!!
