Ian Pasquarelli

Ian Pasquarelli is our local representative of Virginia Cooperative Extension providing a multitude of resources from Virginia Tech and Virginia State University. Ian rovides an integral link to the Virginia Tech food science laboratories for product testing, nutritional analysis, small business development education, and many other Cooperative Extension educational opportunities. He has a wealth of experience working in the food and agriculture industry including:

  • 3 years as an Extension Agent here in Charlottesville providing health and nutrition, food safety, and job skill development education to underserved and underrepresented populations.
  • Constant involvement with both the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in regards to food business development and regulatory requirements.
  • Extensive education and experience in value-added food product management and home food preservation education.
  • 2 years as a dietary department director of a large-scale food service facility.

Ian earned his BS from the University of Maine at Orono in Food Science and Human Nutrition, and will be obtaining an MS in Food Safety and Biosecurity from Virginia Tech in the May of 2016.
